Women and Mechatronics
If aspiring to be a mechanical engineer is challenging enough for a woman because the world is still not accustomed to women handling, designing and building mechanical devices, then aspiring to become a mechatronics engineer would seem more exigent. As mechatronic engineering is a combination of electronic, mechanical, systems design, control, and computing engineering such as what is needed in the designing, developing and building a material handling system, the field would demand much effort from a woman.
The increase in the number of universities offering mechatronic engineering has somehow become a welcoming atmosphere for women who love the challenge of creating innovative technology for mankind. As mechatronic engineering is a relatively new area of engineering, graduates of this engineering program can work in many industries. Such industries may include transport, defense, manufacturing, automobile, oil and gas, aviation and even the aerospace industry. Mechatronic engineers also have a wide variety of multi-disciplinary skills. This fact can qualify them in traditional engineering positions.
Artificial intelligence, also called machine intelligence is a key component in the design plans of a mechatronic engineer. Mechatronic engineers aim to develop and design high technology engineering systems that make the automation of industrial tasks a possibility.
